Smoked Gouda Bechamel
Smoked Gouda Bechamel
serves 4
Ingredients
- 2 T butter
- 3 cl garlic, minced
- 2 T flour
- 1 1/2 C milk
- 1/4 C heavy cream
- 1/2 t smoked paprika
- 1/4 t nutmeg
- 1 T horseradish sauce
- 1/4 lb smoked Gouda cheese, coarse shred
Instructions
- Melt the butter, saute the garlic, then whisk in the flour to create a roux. Continue whisking while adding the milk and cream. Continue whisking and cooking until the sauce begins to thicken.
- Reduce the heat to low, then whisk in the paprika, nutmeg, horseradish sauce. Season to taste.
- Stir in the cheese a small handful at a time and continue stirring until the cheese is fully melted and the sauce has thickened.
